Attack Surfaces at 70 MPH: Cybersecurity Threats in Autonomous and Connected Cars

Autonomous and connected vehicles introduce a rapidly expanding cyber-physical attack surface where software, cloud services, APIs, and tele-assist operations directly influence real-world safety. This session examines how modern vehicle ecosystems can be exploited through insecure APIs, remote access paths, and tele-assist control channels, and how attackers chain vulnerabilities across vehicle, cloud, and enterprise environments.

The talk highlights emerging threat vectors and adversary behaviors, including the tactics used by advanced persistent threat (APT) actors targeting automotive and mobility platforms. Attendees will gain practical insight into where the most critical risks exist today and how to mitigate them through secure design, API hardening, and continuous monitoring across autonomous vehicle systems.
